The Association was delighted to host a seminar in Singapore on 18 November 2025 in the historic surroundings of the Singapore Cricket Club. We welcomed a wide cross-section of the Singapore maritime community.

With LMAA President Jonathan Elvey moderating, LMAA Full Members Clive Aston, Sara Gillingham Aukner and Gerard Hopkins played the tribunal in a topical arbitration involving shipowners, time charterers, a damaged soyabean cargo and a ship arrest by cargo interests. The Owners asked for an immediate award of hire, the charterers for inspection orders and documents. Improvising their responses as the case developed, Clive, Sara and Gerard took it through from appointment to a hearing and the publication of an award and a set of orders, with the audience eavesdropping on their discussions and decisions.

After a series of lively questions, everyone enjoyed drinks and supper late into the evening.
