In collaboration with the IDRC and as part of the LISW25, on 15 September 2025, the Association held a Mock Arbitration event which took the form of a simulation of an LMAA Maritime Arbitration hearing.

Participants at this event were able to observe a mock hearing involving a typical maritime case scenario, oral submissions by experienced barristers from Twenty Essex, and cross-examination of witness evidence. The Tribunal (comprising Jonathan Elvey, LMAA President and Daniella Horton and Ben Goss, Full Members) was asked to decide whether the charterers unambiguously demonstrated to the owners that they could not or will not perform their future obligations to pay hire?

The event was ably hosted by Sarra Kay, Full Member, and Sara Gillingham Aukner (Full Member) and Jeffrey Blum (Supporting Member) participated as witnesses.
