With great sadness we inform members of the passing of Michael Baskerville.
Michael was a distinguished arbitrator, President of the Association from 1995 to 1997. After leaving the sea and before starting to arbitrate, he was a highly-regarded surveyor and expert witness, particularly in relation to cargo matters. This experience and his time at sea stood him in good stead when he took up arbitration and became one of the “go-to” arbitrators when nautical and cargo expertise was needed in a case. He was a gentle and delightful colleague and was greatly supported by his wife, Margaret.
A family funeral took place in Suffolk. If anyone wishes to make a charitable donation in Michael’s memory, his favourite charity was the RNLI.
