It is with very great sadness that we report the death of Robert Gaisford who passed away on 24 November 2023 after a long illness.

Before his outstanding career in arbitration, Robert practised as a solicitor, including over twenty years at Sinclair Roche and Temperley, specialising in P&I, FD&D, shipbuilding and S&P disputes, as well as marine insurance and international sale of goods. He became a full-time arbitrator in 1997 and a Full Member of the Association the following year. Robert was elected President in 2006, a post which he held until 2008.

We will remember Robert not only as a distinguished maritime arbitrator but as a valued colleague and friend.
