The Association is deeply saddened by the loss of Sir Anthony Evans, who died in August 2026 at the age of 92. He was the last survivor of the four founding members of the forerunner of Essex Court Chambers, 4 Essex Court, in 1961.

Sir Anthony was one of the most distinguished commercial advocates of his generation. He served as a judge in the Commercial Court and the Court of Appeal, and as President of the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts. A very highly regarded arbitrator, he was a Full Member of the LMAA until his retirement in 2019.

We will remember Anthony with great respect and affection.
