Experience as Chief Engineer (Barker Award), senior superintendent engineer (oil/bitumen tankers, offshore supply vessels, new building, sale and purchase) and classification society surveyor, involving most types of vessels. Fellow Institute of Marine Engineers and Fellow Royal Institution of Naval Architects. Formerly Principal Consultant of Gordon Marine & Company Limited.

15 years experience in the offshore energy industry including for Lloyd's Register, oil majors and insurance interests, for example in connection with:

• offshore drilling and other offshore service contracts, including heavy lift;
• design, construction, conversion of tankers to SPM and new building of ships including a bitumen carrier;
• design, construction and installation of fixed and floating offshore structures;
• carriage and operation of oil and bitumen;
• sale and carriage of oil and gas, including LNG;
• warranty surveys and consultancy contracts.

Experience includes commissioning/survey of jack-up structures, semi-submersibles, VLCC/SBM conversion, Condeep (Gullfax 'A') construction to completion including 45,000 tonnes deck lift, load-outs, damage surveys and repairs.

Established Lloyd's Register's site office (Das Island) and construction of world's largest LNG/LPG/LBG tanks.

Experience in box-girder bridge construction as a class surveyor (LR).

Experience in ENE (early neutral evaluation) appointments.
