Professional Practice
Keith served at sea between 1973 and 1987 as a Deck Officer in a range of dry cargo and specialist offshore vessels, reaching the rank of Master. He was a shore-based Marine Consultant between 1987 and 2023 with a practice encompassing: • Salvage and wreck removal operations • Marine Warranty Surveying • The management of offshore marine operations • Loss prevention surveys • Ship and cargo damage surveys • Shipping casualty investigations • Navigational assessments • Marine operations assessments • Providing written and oral expert evidence to Court and Arbitration proceedings in the UK and abroad on matters of navigation, ship operations, salvage operations and wreck removal operations. Keith commenced practicing as a Maritime Arbitrator in 2016 and was elected a Full Member of the LMAA in 2023. Qualifications and Appointments: • Extra Master Certificate of Competency • B.Sc (Hons) in Nautical Studies (Reading: Navigation, Hydrography and Naval Architecture) • Diploma in Domestic Arbitration • ISO Maritime Assessor/ISM Lead Assessor • Former Member of the Lloyd’s Special Casualty Representative (SCR) Panel (2000-2019) • Past Master of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners • Younger Brother of Trinity House • Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators • Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation • Fellow of the Nautical Institute • Commander, Royal Naval Reserve (Retired)
