Jon spent nearly 40 years with Ince and Co, the international law firm. He specialised in maritime disputes. After 15 years in London, Jon moved to Greece to head Inces’ Piraeus office, developing it into a major practice.

Jon has been a full-time arbitrator since May 2018. In addition to his LMAA appointments, Jon has been appointed in Dubai, Rotterdam and Singapore for the DIFC, the SCMA, and UNUM, as well as UNCITRAL and LBAS. Jon has been appointed many times as sole arbitrator.

Jon has extensive experience of all aspects of shipping and international trade, especially disputes involving charterparties, sale and purchase contracts, cargo claims, shipbuilding contracts, contracts of affreightment, pool contracts, and maritime casualties.

Jon is also a mediator, CEDR-qualified since 2002 and with mediation experience in London and Athens. He is a member of the Baltic Exchange and the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights.
