The [Arbitration Act 2025] entered into force in full on 1 August 2025.

Headings for Awards

If members issue LMAA awards after 1 August 2025 (the inception date of the new Arbitration Act) then the Association recommends the following:

Awards issued after 1 August where the reference was commenced before 1 August

Continue to use the current heading, referring only to the 1996 Act. Arbitrations commenced before 1 August are not subject to changes introduced by the 2025 Act.

Awards issued after 1 August where the reference is commenced after 1 August

Refer both to the 1996 Act and the 2025 Act in the heading.  Post-August references are still subject to the 1996 Act, because the new Act only amends it.  But it would be best to refer to both Acts in the heading.
