EMAC Delegation meets LMAA Officers
On 30 January 2017 the President, Honorary Secretary and members of the LMAA committee met with a visiting delegation from the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre (EMAC), the recently established maritime arbitration centre located in Dubai, offering the Gulf region and surrounding countries a local arbitral institution with a ‘light touch’ administration to service the needs of the entire UAE, the Gulf region and surrounding countries.
The EMAC delegation was led by the Centre’s chairman, Sir Anthony Colman, and included the Centre’s Secretary General, Majid Obaid Bin Bashir, Chief Case manager, Maali Khader, Executive Assistant, Vanessa Welch and two members of the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees, Edward Newitt and Richard Briggs.
The purpose of the delegation’s visit to the LMAA, and to London more generally, was to raise awareness of the Centre amongst the London shipping community and to discuss possible areas of collaboration and cooperation with the LMAA in the future. We will be reporting on this further, as ideas are developed. Click here to view a photograph of the visit.
