Sir Anthony Colman

 

Sir Anthony died on 28 July 2017, aged 79. He was appointed to the High Court bench in 1992, after a very successful career as a leading commercial barrister. He was noted for his erudition and willingness to counsel junior members of the profession. As a judge in the commercial court, he was the author of many leading judgments and made a notable contribution to the development of English commercial law.

 

After retirement from the High Court, Sir Anthony succeeded Sir Anthony Evans as Judge of the Dubai International Financial Court, whilst maintaining an active practice as an international maritime and commercial arbitrator. Sir Anthony was also Chairman of the newly established maritime body, EMAC. 

 

Sir Anthony had been a Supporting Member of the LMAA since 2009.
